At Iris Group, sustainability is at the heart of our strategy. With the publication of our Sustainability Report 2023, we reaffirm our commitment to a more sustainable future, in line with European Union targets and ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards) reporting standards. This report highlights our successes and identifies areas for improvement to continue our progress.
1. A positive outcome: Our progress in 2023
Reduction of CO₂ emissions.
By 2023, we took significant steps to reduce our carbon footprint with targets aligned with Science-Based Targets initiatives (SBTi). We reduced Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions by, among other things:
- Electrification of our fleet: All new vehicles are now electric, and the use of charging stations for employees has increased.
- Purchase of green power: We achieved 95% green power for all our locations, minimizing our carbon footprint from buildings.
These initiatives bring us closer to our ambitious goal of reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 46% by 2030, compared to 2019.
Responsible Waste Management
Our commitment to a circular economy continues. By 2023, we have optimized our waste management with sustainable partnerships, including with Veolia and GRCT. These actions led to a reduction in the number of waste handlers from 13 to one main partner, further optimizing our environmental impact.
Training and Development of Employees
Training remains a priority: by 2023, we will have more than doubled the number of training hours, totaling 53,303 hours to strengthen the skills of our employees. This skill development includes both technical and soft skills and supports our mission for an enriching and inclusive work environment.
2. Areas for improvement: Our challenges and corrective actions
Water use management
In 2023, water consumption increased slightly due to the expansion of some projects. To address this, we plan to integrate water recycling systems at our main sites by the end of 2024. These modifications are in line with the European Water Framework Directive, which requires responsible handling of this valuable resource.
Reduction of Scope 3 emissions.
Although we have reduced our direct emissions, Scope 3 emissions from our partners and suppliers remain a major challenge. Therefore, we have begun a thorough supply chain analysis to identify opportunities for impact reduction throughout our value chain.
3. Looking ahead: Our goals for 2024 and beyond
With a renewed ambition for 2024, we are committed to further reducing our environmental impact, in line with ESRS and CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) standards. Our goals include:
- Complete electrification of our fleet for all new vehicles starting in 2024.
- Optimizing the energy efficiency of our buildings.
- Strengthening the circular economy, with initiatives to recycle construction waste and hazardous materials.
Conclusion: towards sustainable impact with our stakeholders
Our sustainable commitment would not be possible without the support and collaboration of our stakeholders. We invite you to explore our Sustainability Report 2023 for a better understanding of our impact and ambitions for the coming years.
